Acupuncture

Acupuncture originated over 2500 years ago as part of the greater health system known as Traditional Chinese Medicine which is a part of East Asian Medicines.  Acupuncture is the use of specific anatomical points along the body stimulated by an ultra thin, and surprisingly painless needle.  Stimulating these points in specific combinations helps to initiate a balancing effect within the body.

The goal of any acupuncture treatment is to achieve balance.  According to the principles of East Asian Medicine, disease, discomfort and pain in the body is caused by an internal imbalance.  The use of acupuncture allows the body to ‘reset’ by activating the nervous system to balance bodily functions and initiate deep rest.

Acupuncture has recently made strides in the news for it’s unparalleled effect on relieving pain, and extensive studies have shows its efficacy in pain management.  Acupuncture can also be used to maintain good health and prevent disease.  The World Health Organization named 33 diseases that can be effectively treated with acupuncture and over 100 conditions that can be helped by this healing modality.
