Dr. Mili J. Shah
L.Ac, MSTOM, DACM, Reiki Master

I am a multi-passionate, muli-modality practitioner living and practicing in San Diego, CA. I offer Acupuncture, Herbal Therapy, Lifestyle and Nutritional Counseling, Reiki, Neural Manipulation and Visceral Manipulation in a supportive, light-hearted and nourishing environment.  What drew me towards Holistic Medicine was the fundamental understanding of the subtle intricacies of the natural world and how it relates to our abilities to live in harmony with the world within and around us.  We are all one, but not one in the same.  My passion is helping people like you tailor their lifestyles to best support and align their mental, emotional and physical wellbeing by creating lifestyle and treatment plans that are customized to your own individual needs.

I moved to San Diego in 2010 to complete my studies, and during my years here, I’ve had the honor to study with, and apprentice with Masters in Reiki, Theta Healing, Massage, Tai Ji, Herbal Therapy, Visceral Manipulation, Neural Manipulation, and Functional Medicine.  I’ve had the honor to meet, apprentice with and learn from some of the top Acupuncturists in the field, as well as the founders of the esteemed Pacific College of Oriental Medicine, while working in their offices.  I’ve also had the honor of working with other community leaders in Community Acupuncture, Yoga, Aromatherapy, Mental Health, Lifestyle coaching and Spiritual wellness.  In addition to my own journey of healing, recovery and renewal, I am able to combine all of these experiences (and more) into my own unique offering to you, to help you acheive aligned and optimal health.

It all began in 2008 when I first realized that the environment I was living in and creating was not supporting a healthy lifestyle.  I was 22 years old, working in Manhattan, NY, and contributing the daily “grind”.  I was getting sick often, always anxious, and in constant pain, but I didn’t know how to live or be any other way.  While I was developing these belief systems about how my adulthood was supposed to look, I was also watching my parents and the people I’ve looked up to all my life suddenly (or not so suddenly) appear with serious health conditions.  I watched as they struggled with ways to change their lifestyle to support their health, but even then, they were barely living.  I saw a glimpse of my future if I didn’t make a change.

I was anxious and depressed because I wasn’t doing what I felt called to do.  I was looking for my path,  and the summer of 2008 I sat down with my sister and we looked at all the options I had based on my interests and talents.  What stood out to me most was the Masters in Traditional Chinese Medicine.  I had a degree in Philosophy, and minors in Chemistry, Biology, and Anthropology.  This combination of studying the human mind, physical body and social and cultural structures in accordance with the physicals laws of nature was perfect for what I’d be studying in that program.  I started Acupuncture school in January of 2009.  I was happy I had found my calling, but still hadn’t learned my lessons in balance, and fell ill with Epstein Barre and an enlarged spleen after attempting to accelerate my program and work full time.

I’ve experienced quite a bit in regards to my own health and the health of my loved ones.  Personally, with conditions ranging from childhood food allergies, chronic abdominal pain, IBD, ulcerative colitis, chronic fatigue, depression, anxiety, migraines, epstein-barre syndrome, gluten sensitivity and painful menses.  Also, through my family, I’ve experienced chronic hepatitis, chronic liver and kidney diseases, diabetes, cardiac arrhythmias, and all that goes with breast cancer, migraines, TMJD, carpal tunnel, neuropathy, and chronic pain.  Through all of this, witnessing their treatments and recovery, as well as intuitively formulating therapies for myself and them, I have a deep empathy for anyone experiencing physical and mental health imbalances.  I see you, and I am here to work with you through it all, so you can be the hero of your own journey.
